About

Hello, I'm Amelia!

A teacher of modern foreign languages from Spain. Although I have been teaching for over twenty-five years, it is only now that I have decided to put some of my lessons and favourite instructional strategies together on this blog.

I believe that a language needs to be used to be learned  so most of the activities I prepare for my students are communicative and/or cooperative.

Additionally, having spent two years in the USA through Spain's Visiting Teachers Programmes gave me the opportunity to take part in multiple professional development courses most of which involved modern technology, online tools, and mobile applications among others. Therefore, technology plays a key role in the language learning process of my students.

Also, after having worked at an all-through school in the UK where each student had their own tablet and lessons had to be prepared for them every day, I became passionate about creating exciting strategies that  make their knowledge of the target language grow  and inspire them.

Obviously, some adult students feel a bit concerned about the use of technology or the implementation of cooperative strategies in the classroom mainly because they are facing new challenges and have fear of failure. However, once they have used the applications and tools for a few times and have become used to interacting with their peers in the target language, they find it amusing.

I am ready to consider new ideas and suggestions to implement in my lessons. So, you are welcome to comment on my strategies and activities. I will appreciate it.
